"Gender-free retailer The Phluid Project has launched a new campaign which aims to tackle the workplace inequalities that the LGBTQ+ community faces on a regular basis. This launch isn't just about showcasing the new clothing collection, but will also offer resources to help queer people succeed professionally.
Called UNBOUND | BOUND, the brand's Fall-Winter 2019 collection features workwear that's both professional and very queer. A press release notes that the campaign is "focused on providing, highlighting, and celebrating an ideation of success for the LGBTQIA+ community," and that it certainly does.
The campaign also celebrates something larger than clothes: The Phluid Project launched a job portal for the LGBTQ+ community to be better prepared in an environment where they are often not treated fairly. Even though it's illegal to discriminate against employees, studies have proven that "resumes submitted under a LGBTQIA+ profile receive fewer callbacks than those which are not," and also that "42 percent of transgender women, regardless of qualifications, were discriminated against and did not receive the job." The Phluid Project campaign's creative director, Alex O'Hanley, notes that the portal includes "personalized resources for resume building, makeup tutorials for interviews, interview prep, and beyond."
